Meditation retreats with MC Brigitte will take place at Sorn Thawee Meditation Center in Bangkhla, Chachoengsao, Thailand.

No one at the Center speaks English, so please only make reservations with MC Brigitte.

Sorn Thawee Center charges for accommodation, food, water & electricity, and the use of the meditation hall. It’s 3,000 Thai Baht for the whole retreat. (about 85 €)

MC Brigitte teaches on a Dana basis. Donations for her and her social projects can be given at the end of the retreat.

The place

The place is very suitable for retreating. Individual, air-conditioned huts with private bathrooms and two meals per day await you. Meals are directly delivered to your bungalow. There is only average Thai food or vegetarian Thai food. We can’t provide other options.

MC Brigitte will provide afternoon drinks, like fruit juices, yogurt drinks, soy milk tea, and coffee. There is no meal after midday, but drinks are allowed.

Please consider! The place needs your confirmation two weeks before the event to reserve and prepare your bungalow.

We try to keep eight precepts while retreating

• Try to avoid killing living beings.
• Try to avoid stealing or taking things without asking.
• Try to avoid having sexual contact.
• Try to avoid telling lies or having harsh speech.
• Try to avoid taking substances that lead to carelessness (alcohol, drugs…).
• Try to avoid taking solid food after 12 o’clock midday until sunrise.
• Try to avoid music, entertainment, adornments, cosmetics, and perfumes.
• Try to avoid sleeping on a high and luxurious bed.

Keeping these precepts will help a meditator gain mindfulness and concentration more quickly.

What to bring

Modest, loose-fitting clothes for meditation, toiletry, towels! We recommend you not use your phone; in this case, bring an alarm clock. A mosquito repellent may be helpful. The Center provides thin mats, pillows, pillow covers, bed sheets, and a blanket.

There is no shop and no ATM, so bring the cash you need for donations or if you would like a Thai massage. Two good therapists will give a massage for 250 Thai baht an hour (about 7 euros). Credit cards don’t work here.

Getting there

Try to be at the Center before 4 pm. At 5 pm, there is a short walk around the Center with explanations of teaching and chanting locations.

The gate locks at 6 pm; arrival after 6 pm is impossible.

• A taxi from Bangkok costs approximately 1000 to 1200 Baht.
• Please let us know if you want to have a seat on a reserved van to Sorn Thawee Center. We will contact you when the van leaves Ekkamai Station. The price is 220 Baht per seat.
• The cheapest way to get to the temple is to go from Ekkamai Bus Station at Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok. Vans go to Bangkhla junction, cross the road, and walk about 400 m. You can find the van at Ekkamai bus station platforms 32 and 34. The price is about 130 Baht. But no seat is guaranteed. Timetables are daily as follows. 9.30h, 12.30h, 14.30h

Payment

Please transfer the amount of 3,000 baht for the costs of the Center until the 15th of the month before the retreat. If you want a seat in the reserved van, you can add 220 baht = 3220 Baht or 90 €.

It can be transferred to the below accounts. Unfortunately, we can’t give you a refund. Thanks for your understanding.
